Review: Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Ako

Dale's Review:

On the cab home after watching Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Ako, I heard a radio show host saying that the local film industry is dying and that people should support the MMFF movies to resuscitate it. I say, if the MMFF panel insists on always showing movies like Enteng Kabisote, we might as well euthanize this industry and let it die peacefully.

Watching Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Ako is like watching Eat Bulaga with bad special effects on the big screen. What made the experience more intolerable is you have to sit through almost two hours of it without the option of being able to change the channel, turn off the TV or just yell WTF to someone.

There really isn't much to say about Vic Sotto and Bong Revilla except that you can count on them to define a new low in terms of movie quality in Philippine Cinema. As if their individual movies aren't bad enough, they even collaborated to make a movie that constantly insults a thinking mind and renders you comatose out of sheer stupidity.

Judy Ann Santos, on the other hand, has never looked better in her entire career but even her presence is not enough to salvage this disaster. Gwen Zamora and Sam Pinto are also very pleasant to look at but they really aren't much use for anything else than looking pretty.

I can't say that Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Ako is a disappointment. We pretty much expected it to suck. But as the characters bring up that this franchise has been around for 25 years already, I couldn't help but recall a childhood favorite TV sitcom and that somehow made me smile. Then my attention turned to the trainwreck on the big screen and I wonder how much longer Vic Sotto would milk this franchise for what it's worth and totally destroy whatever good memories we have of Okay Ka Fairy Ko.

Jae's Review:

What's not to love in this movie? Glorifying the male machismo, a ton of sexist and feminist jokes/antics, incoherent plot, promoting bullying, overbearing music and advertisements for products blatantly shoved into the viewers throat. You've seen one movie in this franchise, you've seen them all.

Sarcasm aside, I think our special effects skills are getting better. The little octopus CGIs are cute. Unfortunately, that's the only thing I find nice in this movie.

Why would you want to watch this movie: If you are into torture and want to live your masochistic tendencies. Or you loved the previous franchises of this movie.

I guess they are just going rehash this disaster of a movie, year after year, for the next century.
