10 films to watch out for and watch at SM Cinema Seaside City Cebu this 2016

In late 2015, SM Seaside City Cebu redefined premium cinema experience by launching Southeast Asia's first laser projection system and a large format theater called SM Large Screen Cinema. The theater boasts of a supersized screen which is almost 30% larger than the regular cinema screen size, a 3D platform that accurately reproduces the colors of an actual movie set, and a Dolby Atmos Sound System and top-of-the-line Christie Vive Speakers. This is shop talk for - OMG this is an awesome way to watch movies - said any cinephile having a mindgasm. SM Large Screen Cinema can seat up to 351 guests in a stadium-like setting.

SM Cinema Seaside City Cebu also houses the "Center Stage," an 830-seater hybrid between a cinema and a stage theater which is perfect for movie premieres, pageants, concerts and other occasions. Especially created to cater to special events, the venue is equipped with theater lighting, two (2) standard dressing rooms, and one (1) star dressing room. On days that the theater is not used for events, it offers an impressive space for movie watching - and this is on top of four (4) regular cinemas, two (2) Director's Club Cinemas and the SM Large Screen Cinema, making SM Seaside City Cebu the premier entertainment capital of Cebu City!

2016 gives us a lot of options for potential blockbusters that would be perfect to watch in this state of the art set-up. From comic-book heroes, a massive MMORPG adaptation, a sequel that is 20 years in the making, a prequel to one of the most important book/film series of this generation, and a classic Filipino heroine who is about to soar again, SM Cinema Seaside City Cebu provides the perfect venue for our most anticipated films list.

10 Most Anticipated Films for 2016

Release Date: February 10th

Coming from a disregarded timeline on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadpool is reintroduced as an unconventional anti-hero who is in search for the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Release Date: March 26th

Batman. Superman. Wonder Woman. The Brilliant Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. All live action. All in one screen. Nuff said!

Captain America: Civil War
Release Date: April 27th

If DC has Batman v Superman, Marvel has Captain America vs Ironman. Captain America: Civil War brings almost every Marvel Hero in the franchise in a politically charged conflict that would pit them against each other.

X-Men: Apocalypse
Release Date: May 18th

Serving as a culmination of all the X-Men movies that have been released before and a relaunch of the original X-Men, X-Men: Apocalypse serves as a beginning and a fitting end. Helmed by Bryan Singer, the film will feature Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Archangel (Ben Hardy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as the Four Horsemen to Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse.

Release Date: June 8th

The film based on the long-running Warcraft video game and the widely popular World of Warcraft MMORPG that capped at over 14 Million subscribers worldwide at its peak, will finally be released on June 2016. Die-hard fans, such as myself, have long anticipated the film's creation since its initial announcement way back in 2009!

The film covers the most interesting era in the game - a dark time when humans face orc invaders who are trying to flee out of their dying world through the Dark Portal. From opposing sides, two heroes will fight for the survival of their homes, their families and their entire race.

Independence Day: Resurgence
Release Date: June 23rd

Here's one movie that is set on making anyone who has seen the original feel really old! Set 20 years after the alien invasion of '96, Independence Day: Resurgence brings back Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner to reprise their original roles, along with newcomer Liam Hemsworth.

Doctor Strange
Release Date: November 4th

One of my most favorite stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the one where Doctor Strange led all of the world's heroes in the great battle against Doom who acquired the Infinity Gauntlet. Following this storyline, but with Thanos as the ultimate master of the gauntlet, I think Doom is set to be one of key characters in Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War that will culminate in 2018/2019.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Release Date: November 16th

Just because we could not get enough of Harry Potter! From J.K. Rowling comes a trilogy of films from a book once featured in the original series. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set 70 years before the Harry Potter timeline and features Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Release Date: December 16th

A spinoff to the Star Wars Saga which takes us back to the time when the Rebel Alliance uncovers the plans for the Galactic Empire's ultimate weapon - The Death Star. The film brings back its most iconic villain, a live action Darth Vader! Here's hoping for some James Earl Jones voice action!

Release Date: 2016 (Exact date TBA)

Okay I have to add this one here as it kinda fits the theme. This year's remake of the iconic Filipino heroine looks super awesome judging from the teaser trailer from last years Metro Manila Film Festival. The film is directed by Erik Matti who helmed the controversial Honor Thy Father, the critically-acclaimed Cannes Film Festival entry - On the Job, and the Tiktik Chronicles. The film has yet to release a trailer online, as well as reveal the film's new lead. Will update as soon as those info become available.
