Starting a theater group is no child's play but the five friends/theater buddies that started Red Turnip Theater last 2013 were readily able to capture a following. With their competent handling of provocative materials like Closer and Cock, the Turnips have established a reputation for quality and for making audiences squirm in their seats a little (in a good way) as they are faced with topics that are a bit too close to reality.
On their second season, Red Turnip Theater presents the 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner, Rabbit Hole. Described by Variety as “an intensely emotional examination of grief, laced with wit, insightfulness, compassion, and searing honesty," Rabbit Hole tells the story of a couple who loses their four year old son to a car accident, and the grief that slowly threatens to tear them apart.
Rabbit Hole was a critically-acclaimed Broadway hit that was adapted into a film that garnered an Oscar nomination for lead actress Nicole Kidman in 2010. For its Manila premiere, Rabbit Hole will star Agot Isidro (Zsa Zsa Zaturnah) as the grieving Becca and Michael Williams (Jekyll and Hyde, Les Miserables) as her husband Howie. Joining them are Che Ramos-Cosio (Tatlong Maria, Dogeaters) as Becca’s sister Izzy and Sheila Francisco (South Pacific, August Osage County) as their mother. Dulaang UP's Ross Pesigan, who turned heads in Dulaang UP's Ang Nawalang Kapatid rounds off the cast as Jason, the young boy responsible for the tragic loss of their son. Topper Fabregas (Cock) directs.
