NBC's live production of The Sound of Music gets online hate
In case you didn't already know, NBC will be presenting a live production of the 1965 classic, The Sound of Music, on December 5. I am not sure if this will be shown locally but hey, I am sure that everyone who wants to watch it will get to have a copy. *cough* torrent*cough*
Anyway, The Sound of Music is perhaps one of the most beloved musicals of our time and its star, Julie Andrews, is one of the most admired musical legends in any generation. So while NBC denies that this is a "remake," and even if Julie Andrews herself has graciously given her thumbs up to Carrie Underwood, several netizens have expressed disappointment that the musical has to be remade at all.
I, for one, will be watching out for the
remake new version if only to dis it if they do not give justice to the original film. As for the previews, however, it doesn't look bad at all. It doesn't hold a candle to the classic version but hey, nobody can.
My advise though for the younger generation that has not seen the original film, watch the 1965 version first as it is ageless and I promise that you will not be bored.
