Hannibal makes his way into your homes via AXN

Updated 04052013:

While suffering from the inevitable comparison with the more superior cast of Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, The Beginning offers a very interesting look at the connection between FBI Special Agent Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter.

Set in the years leading to the capture of Hannibal Lecter, the series delves into the emphatic mind of Graham who, in my opinion, is the most fascinating character in the franchise. This fascination is shared by Hannibal who takes a liking to Graham and helps him solve his cases in his own sadistic and well… delectable way.

Hannibal airs 8 Apr, Mon, 10PM (PH) on AXN.

One definite addition to the list of tv series I follow is this upcoming tv incarnation of the iconic Hannibal Lecter. Soon on AXN, the series follows the characters from my personal favorite (yes, I like Silence of the Lambs second only to this) of the Hannibal movies, Red Dragon.

For those that aren't familiar, Red Dragon is the eerie pre-Silence of the Lambs tale where criminal profiler Will Graham (then played by Edward Norton) tries to catch an elusive serial killer called The Tooth Fairy (Ralph Fiennes). Guiding him in this quest is castrated criminal genius, Hannibal Lecter (played of course by the immortal Anthony Hopkins) who also happens to be one of the top psychiatric minds in the country.

What sets Will Graham apart from Clarice Starling is his ability to empathize with the psychopaths that he is hunting which ultimately makes his  quests more disturbing and frightening.

The upcoming TV series stars British actor Hugh Dancy (Black Hawk Down, Elizabeth) as Will Graham, Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Clash of the Titans) as Hannibal, Gillian Anderson (X-Files) and Morpheus himself - Laurence Fishburne (CSI).
