President Aquino makes rounds in flood affected areas

August 8, 2012. As monsoon rains incessantly cause flooding in NCR and nearby areas, Philippine President Benigno Aquino III made rounds and personally handed relief goods in an evacuation center in Tunasan, Muntinlupa and the Muntinlupa Sports Center where over 900 families were relocated. He then went to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for further briefing.

Often criticized for not showing up in disaster areas like his predecessor, this is the first time that Aquino made a public appearance in a calamity to give help to victims.

Differences aside, this is a good move for the President. Seeing him among the people who are holding on to what little hope they have left, sends a strong message that the government is behind the people and one with the people.

    At least he is learning.

  2. di ba mga senatoriables kasama niya...

  3. Since not all who plan to run as senator braved the storm to go to relief centers, whether they are running or not, I would still give them credit. :)
