GMA's Vice-President for Production had this to say about their latest station ID that premiered last night: "We had major add-ons in this year’s budget for the procurement of best-of-class high definition cameras and graphics machines. These tools are of the same standards as those used in Hollywood movies such asTransformers and Avengers. Also, this year’s SID has the biggest production pool, composed of 180 personnel." "The network invested multimillions to acquire state-of-the-art production and editing tools for the project," he added.
I guess this is what it means when people say that it is not the gear that matters but the skill. Admittedly, this latest rendition of the GMA theme, performed by Regine Velasquez and Julie Anne San Jose, is pretty good. But apart from that, everything else is too generic and boring.
Given the network's preparation, I had hoped for something more heart-tugging or at least something that would wow and make you wish you were Kapuso if you weren't one already. Of course, GMA fans would scream biased but believe it or not, this is the most contructive, unbiased opinion I have on the SID.
