Arnold Clavio's Statement on the Azkals Issue

GMA7 broadcast journalist, Arnold Clavio, made it to Twitter Philippines' trending list today for a statement he made on a morning show against popular football team - Azkals.

Clavio made the following remarks on the said show:

Parang God's gift to women.”

These remarks earned mostly violent comments from fans who latched out at Clavio mainly for his supposed racist remarks. In twitter, a user (@checklit) said, "If we go by Arnold Clavio's definition of ‘Filipino’ as being ‘lumaki dito’ and ‘kayumanggi’ then we just lost millions of people.

To address the issue, Clavio released a statement:

Some members of  the Azkals are currently involved in a sexual harassment case filed by former presidential daughter, Cristy Ramos. Last year, rape allegations also hounded some of the team's members but the accuser was kept silent never pushed through with the charges.

Anyway, here is how it looks when people actually talk about a topic making it trend on twitter. Actual users comment and engage in a discussion and not just post random keywords repeatedly as is the case here.

  1. Kung naninindigan siya, aba gumagamit pa siya ng adjective na 'Igan' which I think represents 'Kaibigan'. His remarks weren't even friendly.

I agree about his stand about sexual harassment, but who is he to pass judgment? Yun talaga ang mahirap minsan sa press. They already ostracize, ridicule via 'trial-by-publicity'.

Hindi porke't feeling niya sikat na sikat siya--it gives him the authority to just blurt out his thoughts.

Akala ko ba serbisyong totoo ang Channel 7? Bakit may ganung slant. Was his comments solicited? LOL!

  2. Let me correct what I wrote. It should have been 'salita' and not 'salit'.

Grammatical error pa ako. Sa subject verb agreement.

The sentence: 'Was his comments...' - should be: 'Were his comments solicited?

    My apologies...
