November 8, 2011 - An underdog in this year's roster of musicales produced by more established and known theater groups, Cory ng Edsa, wins Best Musicale at the 24th Annual Aliw Awards held at Resorts Worlds Manila. The show's writer, director and one of the leads, Vincent Tañada, also bagged the award for Best Actor in a Musicale. (Review)
Incidentally, Cory ng Edsa is also nominated for Best Musicale in the first ever BWW (Broadwayworld) Philippines Awards. While Aliw awards was voted by critics and industry experts, BWW will hand over the judging hat to theater viewers and enthusiasts. Tañada is also nominated as Best Director and Best Actor. Other nominations are for Set Design, Musical Director, Costume Design, Choreographer and Sound Designer.
