A Christmas Message from Bum-Spot

Dear readers:

2008 is a year marked with a global financial decline. It is a time when the Philippines is not the only country complaining about joblessness, poverty and a difficulty to make ends meet. It is a difficult year for most of us but it’s about to come to a close.

As with most people, I see the coming of the New Year as a time of hope, a time of reprieve and a time for change. It is a time when we promise ourselves that we’ll do better. That we’ll correct the mistakes of the past and start anew.

More than anything, I think that this is the spirit of the season that we have to celebrate. That flicker of hope, that no matter how bad things get… we can rise up and make things better. This may be unrealistically optimistic and optimism is not really my thing. But this is one delusion that we should all gladly share as I have chosen to believe that when you are at the lowest point of your life, there's no other way left to go but up.

This holiday season, I invite you all to leave all your worries behind. They will still be there tomorrow, but on that day, we shall look at them with renewed hope. And as we do this, who knows. we may just have a better year ahead of us.
